Laguna Pressure-Flo 17000L UVC Pond Filter – Advanced High-Capacity Pond Filtration

The Laguna Pressure-Flo 17000 UVC Pond Filter is a professional-grade pressurised filter that provides mechanical, biological, and UVC filtration for ponds up to 17,000 litres. It ensures crystal-clear, healthy water by removing debris, toxins, and algae while helping to reduce harmful bacteria and pathogens.

Designed to work with a Laguna Max-Flo 11,000 L/h solids-handling pump or any pump rated between 9,000–12,000 L/h, the filter passes water through highly durable foam filters that trap debris before it enters the bio media, which removes fish toxins. Pre-filtered water then passes through a 24W integrated UVC lamp, which exposes it to ultraviolet rays to inhibit algae growth and improve overall pond health.

Patented Easy-Clean Backwash System
The Pressure-Flo 17000 features a
revolutionary patented backwash-cleaning system, allowing the foam filters to be cleaned in minutes without opening the lid. An easy-to-view cleaning indicator signals when maintenance is required, ensuring optimal performance and longer intervals between full cleans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a UV clarifier remove green water?

Yes. UV clarifiers are specifically designed to target the microscopic free-floating algae that causes green pond water. As water passes through the UV chamber, the ultraviolet light disrupts the algae cells, helping clear the water and improve overall pond clarity.

How long does it take to clear a pond?

Many ponds begin showing improvement within a few days, with significant clarity often achieved within 1–2 weeks. Timing can vary depending on pond size, algae levels, sunlight exposure, fish load, and overall filtration.

Do I need a filter with a UV clarifier?

Yes. A UV clarifier works best alongside a pond filter. The UV light helps clump and neutralise free-floating algae, while the filter removes debris and particles from the water. Together, they create a healthier and clearer pond system.

What size pond is this suitable for?

Each UV clarifier is designed for a specific pond volume, which will be listed in the product specifications. Choosing the correct size is important for effective water clarity. If your pond has a high fish load or receives full sun, we often recommend sizing up for best performance.

Will it harm fish or plants?

No. UV clarifiers are safe for fish, frogs, turtles, beneficial bacteria, and pond plants when installed and used correctly. The ultraviolet light is contained safely within the unit and only treats the water passing through the clarifier.

Do UV clarifiers work all year round?

Yes. UV clarifiers can be run year-round, although they are especially beneficial during warmer months when algae growth is most active. Continuous use helps maintain clearer water and prevents recurring green water blooms.

Do UV globes need replacing?

Yes. UV globes gradually lose effectiveness over time, even if they still appear to be glowing. For best results, most UV globes should be replaced approximately every 12 months.
