Green Water & Algae Control

Green water and string algae are the most common pond problems. Our green water and algae control treatments help you get on top of them quickly, while you fix the cause for good.

What's in the range

API Pond Algaefix – for green water, string algae and blanket weed.
Pond One algae blocks and Algae Eliminator, plus the AquaPro Bionatural Feature Pond Block.
API Accu Clear – clumps fine particles together so your filter can remove them.
Splosht and PondMAX 3-in-1 – natural-style treatments for clearer water.

Fix the cause, not just the symptom

Algae grows when there are too many nutrients and plenty of sunlight. Treatments clear it up, but it will come back unless you deal with the cause:

Add a UV clarifier for green, pea-soup water.
Plant generously. Oxygenators and filtering plants compete with algae for nutrients.
Don't overfeed your fish, and remove dead leaves and sludge.

Use treatments safely

Always follow the dose on the label and check it's suitable for your fish, plants and any frogs. Read our guides to removing blanket weed and controlling algae in ponds.
