Love a cup of herbal tea? Our herbal tea pond plants let you grow your own, fresh from the pond. These easy, fast-growing plants give you leaves to pick all through the warmer months.
What to grow
Water mints are the stars here. Fine Leaf Water Mint makes a classic, refreshing mint tea, Chocolate Water Mint has a rich chocolate-mint aroma, and Vietnamese Water Mint adds a spicier note. Gotu Kola and Brahmi are traditional herbal tea plants in Asia, and Swamp Pepper, Water Parsley and Creeping Jenny round out the range.
Making fresh tea
Pick a handful of fresh leaves, rinse them, and steep in just-boiled water for five minutes or so. Leaves can also be dried for winter. As with any herbal tea, check with a health professional first if you're pregnant or taking medication.
Growing tips
Grow tea plants in baskets on a sunny marginal shelf, and pick often to keep them bushy. Avoid chemical treatments in ponds where you grow plants for tea.
