Pond Water Test Kits

You can't see most water problems until your fish are already struggling. Pond water test kits let you check what's happening in your water, so you can fix small problems before they become big ones.

What's in the range

  • API Pond Care Master Test Kit – tests the key parameters in one kit.
  • API single tests – ammonia, nitrate, KH, GH/KH and pH test strips.
  • Aqua One QuickDrop – ammonia, nitrite, pH, KH, iron and phosphate test kits.

What to test and why

  • Ammonia and nitrite: toxic to fish even at low levels. High readings mean the filter can't keep up or the pond is overstocked or overfed.
  • Nitrate and phosphate: high levels feed algae.
  • pH and KH: KH keeps pH stable. Low KH can lead to sudden pH swings that stress fish.

When to test

Test regularly in a new pond while the filter establishes, whenever fish look unwell, after adding new fish, and before using any treatment. Many pond keepers test every few weeks in the warmer months.
