Filter Sponges & Media

Filter sponges do the hard work in your pond filter. They trap debris and give beneficial bacteria a place to live. Over time they compress and wear out, so replacing them keeps your filter working at its best. Our filter sponges and media range includes replacements for Pond One, Oase and Laguna filters and pumps.

What's in the range

• Pond One – Claritec filter sponges in 15, 20 and 25 PPI, and Pondmaster prefilter sponges.
• Oase – Filtral and Filtoclear sponge sets.
• Laguna – PressureFlo foams, PowerFlo pads and foams, and PowerJet strainer foams.

When to replace sponges

Replace sponges when they're torn, crumbling or no longer spring back after squeezing. Many pond keepers replace them every one to two years. Avoid replacing all the sponges at once if you can, so the good bacteria aren't lost all at the same time.

Cleaning tip

Rinse sponges in a bucket of pond water, not tap water. Chlorine in tap water kills the beneficial bacteria that keep your water healthy.
