Fine leaf water mint Mentha cevina has many health benefits. It can be effective in relieving digestive problems such as upset stomach, bad breath (can be used as a mouthwash) and indigestion.
The leaves can be added to drinks, tea and salads to add a wonderful summer flavour. They have a strong punchy flavour and go well in Asian salads.
Like all mints, fine leaf water mint is a good source of vitamin C when served fresh. It also contains vitamin A.

This pond plant rich in many vitamins, particularly vitamin K, which is needed for blood clotting and bone health. It's a great source of vitamins A and C (supports immune health).

Water hyssop (Bacopa caroliniana) is part of the pond plant family known as Plantaginaceae. Water hyssop is easy to identify from other members of the genus as it produces a small blue flower that smells of lemon when crushed and as a result of this it also goes by the name Lemon Hyssop. When it comes to pond plants,
Water Hyssop could be considered an all-rounder. It produces pleasant-looking green foliage, a scented blue flower can grow at a range of different depths so it is a useful bog plant, floating plant, and oxygenator when grown completely submerged.
Water Hyssop is also a useful plant for stripping nutrients from pond water. Nutrients including nitrates and phosphates are the major cause of algae in a pond. Hairy Nardoo Marsilea Drummondii is a classic Australian native water plant. Hairy Nardoo produces a clover like soft furry leaf that closes at night or on overcast days. Nardoo Marsilea Angustifolia should be a staple of any native water garden. It is characterised by its green four-leaf clover appearance. The leaves will float on the surface of a pond when grown submersed, but it will also thrive near the edge of a pond in wet or boggy soil where the leaves will stand upright. It will grow in both full sun or shade so it is a great all-rounder for any water garden. The seed-like spore cases of Nardoo known as sporocarps can be eaten as a porridge or dried and ground up and made into a dough.

Our stunning Goddess Lily Sparkles (Zantedeschia), is a realtively hardy water plant, originating in South Africa. It can be grown in part shade and has the most unusual foliage of thick deep green with a sprinkling of white sparkles. It has a white trumpet like flower from late winter through to early summer.
Maintain the plant by removing spent leaves, keeping water toppped up and fertilise. Feed monthly from spring using the Pond Plantz time release fertilizer tablet by inserting the tablet 5-10cm under the surface of the soil.
Best suited to a warmer climate, or grown in a protected pond.
Can be pruned to maintain size by removing larger leaves and trimming the roots back.
