Dwarf Umbrella Grass (Cyperus Alternifolius Nanus)  can be grown as a feature pond plant. This plant makes a suitable alternative to larger papyrus plants. It is a perennial plant that grows best in sunny damp conditions but will tolerate water to a depth of 5cm over the base of the plant. Dwarf Umbrella Grass can grow to 50cm high and forms clumps that slowly increase in volume via rhizomes that spread along boggy margins of the pond or in a pot.

They produce a green star shaped seed head.
